The dune is also special because it can produce its own special sound, “sing,” which is part of various legends.

The sacredness of this place in the desert is reflected in Paulo Coelho's novel Zaire. The action takes place in Kazakhstan, and the main character has a revelation near a singing dune. Travelers want to believe that if they climb to the crest of the dune, their dreams will come true.
