Lake Kaindy is a natural place located in Almaty region in the territory of the State National Park “Kolsai Lakes”. The lake got its name from a birch grove growing several kilometers away from it. The peculiarity of this place is the spruce trees sticking out of the water, which appeared here as a result of flooding caused by the Kemin earthquake in 1911.
There are several popular places to visit in the territory of Kainda. These include the Panorama Lookout, which offers a scenic view of the water surface, and the Wishing Gate, where tourists are energized by the mountain water. In 2021, a pier was built on Lake Kaindy. Previously, viewing platforms were built only on the lower Kolsai Lake. There are several gazebos near the lake.
How to get to Lake Kaindy?
As a rule, Lake Kaindy is visited in one trip together with the lower Kolsai Lake!
Lake Kaindy epitomizes the true wilderness of Kazakhstan. There is no asphalted road leading directly to the shore, making this place hard to reach. To get to the lake, you will need an off-road vehicle, as some parts of the road will have to be crossed through the river.
Once you reach the barrier, you can walk to the lake or rent a horse and ride there.
